“I became a Physical Therapist Assistant for one reason and that was to help people. When I was 15 years old, my mother and I were in a bad motor vehicle accident which broke her neck and crushed her right ankle. After seeing what she went through and the importance of physical therapy in her recovery, I knew I wanted to help others like my mother.”
Chantry received his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Wallace State Community College and has been a clinician for six years. He has worked for Encore Rehabilitation for one year, treating patients at the Encore Rehabilitation offices in Haleyville and Russellville. Chantry is also a Certified Personal Trainer.
Chantry continues, “I love seeing people thrive and meet new people. I have developed some good friendships that stand to this day. I was a sports fanatic and so I love to see athletes get back to what they love to do and have success. I believe all of us therapists desire to make a difference.”
Beginning a new career path at age 41 was not easy but Barry Haisting shares, “Becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant is by far the best career decision I’ve made!”
“When I began this career path 8 years ago, my interest was based around athletics and returning athletes to play. Since then, I would say my interest has definitely changed to helping others return to work and independence,” he expressed. Barry is a Physical Therapist Assistant at Encore Rehabilitation of Haleyville.
Previously to receiving his PTA degree from Wallace State Community College, he had received a business degree from Northwest Shoals Community College. Happy to be treating patients, Barry has been in the physical therapy field for 8 years and has been with Encore Rehabilitation for 4 years.
Happy National Physical Therapy Month, Barry! We appreciate all you do!
